Travel / Five years in Germany · 2016–2020
So, we have settled in a bit and are itching to travel. Some things are getting easier but it is still all so new and different.
We have heard that Strasbourg is a beautiful place…a little French, a little German, and not too far away.
Looks like Booking.com is the way to go here. I can search for exactly what we are looking for (pool, free breakfast, family rooms) and see the deals. We book a Mercure Hotel that is outside of the city and decide to metro in. Very easy to figure out the public transportation and the hotel is fine. Nothing fancy and no pool but clean and roomy.
We decide to walk around for awhile and grab a bite to eat before our boat ride. Went to a cool restaurant called Les Troquet des Kneckens. We had our go-to Flammkuchen and enjoyed it but mostly had fun playing on the extra large foosball table and taking in the decor.

The absolute best thing for us to do was to take a ride on the river cruise. We aren’t ones to do this normally but we heard that they had a great audio program for the kiddos. You know how normally you can choose which language, well, they also had a kids version of the story. I kept going back and forth and ended up staying on the kids version because it was so fun!
On the way back we stopped by Ligne de Maginot for a little history lesson and headed home.
