After our first cruise we thought we would try another one. With school breaks and other trips planned we postponed booking.
After talking to some friends from Romania we decided we wanted to visit the country and see the Dead Sea. We found a cruise on AROSA where kids are free. Sure, no kids club and probably no kids at all but we would get to try a river cruise and see so many new places. We invited the grandparents and then they invited friends and we got a big group together. No other kids but lots of doting grandparents…not bad …
And, while searching for that we saw a Mediterranean cruise departing from Venice. We could drive there, see Venice, take a cruise and explore the Mediterranean, perfect. And it fit beautifully within the school schedule. Booked!
Well, we all know what happened in 2020. A March 2020 cruise from Venice…yeah, it could have only been worse if the cruise went to Wuhan. We followed the updates on where we could travel and had to cancel. Boo!

Ok, so, I am now dying to take a cruise again. We had to cancel the 2 cruises but thought there was no way we wouldn’t be able to take one mid 2021. Our residency permit for Germany ends in August of 2021 and we have to move back to the US. Our air shipment would be packed and sent ahead of time and we would be pretty minimal on the luggage. So my brilliant plan was to just leave our apartment at the end of the lease and walk/hike/train/ferry to a transatlantic cruise to travel home. No worrying about flights and just have a great time leaving even though it would be heart breaking.
We found a great cruise that would take us to Canada and then end in Boston. Sounds like the start of a plan.
